What cool things have you been doing lately?

I've been living my lifelong dream of being in L.A., running my coaching business from my laptop and connecting girls from across the world to inspire and empower them to follow their dream too. For me it was always a dream to create my own freedom lifestyle that infused abundance, adventure and impact and this is exactly what coaching provides for me. On top of that I get to teach other girls how to achieve the exact same in their life too which is always amazing to see people's lives and belief in themselves transform before my very eyes. It's what I live for!!

Which girls are doing cool things in your world?

My girl @psimella on Instagram is also spreading the love and light in the form of a spiritual life and business coaching biz. She's my separated at birth soul sister in Montreal (we've never met) but literally connected online when she invited me to be interviewed for her podcast and have been super close ever since - we share a lot of synchronicities and have so much in common! Ella is such an inspiration, she's impacting so many people with her message and really has that amazing energy about her!!

What was the last book you read?

The Science of Getting Rich, i'm really big on developing wealth consciousness daily - especially as an entrepreneur I don't want to fall into any old self-sabotaging patterns or scarcity beliefs so I empower myself with wealth consciousness material every day.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a tricky one, so much choice!

Ok so, one song that stands out right now is by Pink - I am Here.

Not only is Pink the definition of a super strong, empowered woman to me but I can really relate to the lyrics of that particular song through my own journey so it always makes me feel amazing and enables me to embody that strength that Pink embodies so I can live with courage.

Our first event: Girls Doing Cool Things In Liverpool

IMG_5350.JPG

You might know the story of how GDCT came into existence already, but if not, here’s the short version.

I’ve wanted to start organising events for ages, but I really wasn’t keen on the idea of super formal networking events. I toyed with the idea of workshops, but ultimately I came to the realisation that when I go to an event, I don’t want it to be super-structured - I want it to be a casual atmosphere, full of lovely people, interesting conversations and the opposite of intimidating.

I had this lightbulb idea after a glass or two of rosé, and after running the idea past my friend Lauren, the premise of Girls Doing Cool Things was created. But, being a blogger and someone who runs most of their business from a laptop, I wanted their to be an online aspect, too. And so, three glasses of wine down, I created this very website, a Facebook group, and started asking women to submit the cool things they were doing to share and celebrate online.

Finally, a month after creating the website, I’ve got my shit together, recruited some amazing panellists and would like to invite you to join us at One Fine Day in Liverpool on Thursday 1st November for an evening of cocktails and conversation.

The details

When

Thursday 1st November, from 6pm

Where

One Fine Day, Liverpool

Schedule

6pm - arrival, welcome and drinks

7pm - a discussion with our wonderful panel about social media and building a brand

8pm - have a chat, get another drink if you want one and hopefully we’ll see you at the next one!

Speakers

Our panel consists of the following amazing women who are doing very cool things:

Lauren Johnstone - illustrator and founder of The Covet Co

Sophie Gale - founder of Girls In Work and blogger at Sophie Rosie

Abigail Whitehead - social media manager and blogger at Blush & Noise

Tickets

Tickets are £15 and are available here.

The cost of the tickets will go towards the cost of the venue, paying our speakers and any money remaining will be put towards organising more GDCT events and projects.

This is not a business, it’s a passion project, so I (Julia) am not looking to profit from these events.

Anything else?

I am also planning to have a charitable donation drop-off available if you would like to donate to charities. I’m currently confirming the details of how to go about this and more info will be available on the ticket page soon.

If you have any questions about the event, please email me at girlsdoingcoolthings@gmail.com

See you there!

What cool things have you been doing lately?

I've recently started up an online community about a fictional town called Westport. I love all things spooky so in Westport there are all sorts of mythical creatures, as well as a bestiary open to our producers! I am also taking part in the podcast The Laughing Linguists, set to launch in 2019! We find cool etymological things and tell each other the story, laugh and drink!

Which girls are doing cool things in your world?

Gina Daniel is my ultimate cool girl, she's a blogger and an all round amazing person she writes about cool things in her life, reviews, self-love, and her journey through life. Gina writes in her own voice which I adore. Next is Charlotte Sumner who does fantastic poetry and stories, she's a star!

What was the last book you read?

Lord of the Flies by William Golding - I am teaching a term on it soon!

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Lovers Eyes - Mumford & Sons, but specifically the Red Rocks Live version!

What cool things have you been doing lately?

I help side-hustlers build a business that gives them the freedom to do more of what they love, by helping them manage their time more effectively and giving them the tools to be more productive.

I started my business when I found all of the creative business content out there is aimed at people who are running their business full time. But, there were lots of people like me who were growing a business while also working a full-time job.

My blog is where I share my own experiences of having a side-hustle and my tips and guidance on managing your time and boosting your productivity. I also have a podcast, On The Make, where I speak to other creative business owners and business experts about all aspects of growing a creative business and creating the lifestyle you long for.

In January 2019 I’m taking my side hustle from part-time to full-time! I can’t wait to focus completely on what I love doing and help even more side-hustlers grow their creative side-hustle.

Which girls are doing cool things in your world?

Oh my goodness so many! But a couple that spring to mind are:

Fiona Barrows - I'm just loving her podcast There Are Other Ways at the moment, she covers such a variety of fascinating and really relevant topics under the umbrella of how people are living life a little differently.

Lauren Aston Designs - I recently knitted one of her chunky knit jumper kits and loved how relaxing I found it. Everything she does on Instagram is golden so head over and follow her.

What was the last book you read?

Playing Big by Tara Mohr - it’s really highlighted how I ‘play small’ and hold myself back from achieving my full potential. This book has been full of ah-ha moments for me and I think it’s relevant to just about every female out there.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a tricky one because podcasts and audio books have taken over from listening to music but I do love attempting to sing along to Arianna Grande songs on full volume in my car. When the volume's really loud, I sound just like her...

Where can people find you online?

I tend to hangout most on Instagram so that's the best place to find me https://www.instagram.com/josephinepbrooks/
I have a podcast for side-hustlers who want to do more of what they love, called On The Make https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/on-the-make/id1409399701
